PITTSBURGH – March 13, 2018 – Gatesman, one of the fastest-growing, privately owned marketing communications agencies, congratulates president Shannon Baker on receiving the Pittsburgh Business Times 2018 Women of Influence Award for her immense contributions to Gatesman’s success throughout her tenure, shattering glass ceilings as a female leader in advertising.
Each year, Pittsburgh Business Times honors 25 women from varying industries who have blazed a trail for others and made a difference in their communities throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region.
“Every day, Shannon shows up to work with a fierce devotion to our agency, and a commitment to our clients and team,” said John Gatesman, CEO, Gatesman. “Anyone who is lucky enough to cross paths with her walks away energized by her hunger to succeed and overall passion. She is a remarkable partner and leader.”
Just one year after joining the agency in 2008, Baker was named partner, quickly building Gatesman’s PR practice into one of the nation’s Top 100 PR firms. In 2016, Shannon was named president, overseeing the agency’s daily operations and playing a key role in defining Gatesman’s marketing model to drive integration, innovation and creativity as the worlds of technology, content and experience combined. As president, Shannon has made it a priority to push gender and diversity boundaries, recruiting and building an executive team with strong female leadership.
“Her leadership, agility and breadth of expertise was instrumental as the agency expanded to Chicago and Springfield last year,” added Gatesman. “She’s not afraid to get into the trenches and serves as an exemplary role model not only to women in business, but to all who want to make it in this industry.”
During her tenure, Shannon contributed to 10 years of consecutive year-over-year growth and continues to lead the charge in enhancing relationships with existing clients.
