Gatesman congratulates President Shannon Baker on being elected as one of the four newest VisitPITTSBURGH board members. Baker’s appointment took place during the organization’s year-end partnership meeting and is a reflection of her passion for the Pittsburgh community as well as her demonstrated leadership excellence.

“I’m very humbled to be elected as one of VisitPITTSBURGH’s newest board members,” said Baker. “Pittsburgh is such an impressive city – full of renaissance, culture, restaurants, technology, exceptional sports teams and venues and leading health care and higher education systems – and its one that I hold very close to my heart. The opportunity to provide strategic guidance to this organization in the wake of one of the most challenging times our region – and our nation faced – it’s an honor. I hope to contribute my strengths, my creativity and innovation to the group in a time where creativity and innovation is required.”

VisitPITTSBURGH is the official tourism marketing and promotion agency for Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. It is dedicated to generating business events, sports events and leisure travel business for the Pittsburgh region. Baker, alongside fellow board members, will help enhance VisitPITTSBURGH’s efforts as the organization enacts its COVID-19 rebound plans.

Baker was hand-selected for her effective strategic guidance and leadership at Gatesman, which serves corporations and organizations across the region and beyond. The board also recognized Baker’s personal achievements, including the “Top Women in Business” honor from the American Business Journals and her receipt of the 2020 Fox Rothschild Outstanding CEOs and Top Executive award. Baker also serves on the board of directors for Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and on the Academic Advisory Board, School of Business, for Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.

“VisitPITTSBURGH is very fortunate to count Shannon among its leadership,” said John Gatesman, CEO, Gatesman. “I’m confident her competitive spirit and industry expertise will be an asset to the board, helping the team drive success for the organization, as well as our city.”

Other VisitPITTSBURGH board appointees included Betty Cruz, president and CEO, World Affairs Council; Cammie Dunaway, chief marketing officer, Duolingo; and Marty LaMar, chief economic development officer, City of Pittsburgh.
