PITTSBURGH – OCTOBER 17, 2023 – Gatesman agency is pleased to announce its sponsorship and participation with the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Pittsburgh Chapter’s inaugural AdWeek, where more than 200 creative professionals, including the brightest minds in marketing, advertising, media and technology, will gather to hear from industry leaders, explore trends, share new ideas and network. The week-long event celebrates 100 years of advertising in Pittsburgh and features more than 30 speakers and panelists who will tackle some of the most influential and pressing topics in the industry. 

Pittsburgh AdWeek kicked off on October 17th with an official City Proclamation from Mayor Ed Gainey to honor 100 years of advertising from the Pittsburgh region. Gatesman president, Shannon Baker attended the proclamation ceremony along with other executive members of the AAF Pittsburgh Board of Directors.   

“I was elected to the AAF board of directors at a really exciting time,” said Shannon Baker. “The 100 year anniversary  is an opportunity to unite the creative community, to focus on ways we can retain and recruit talent to the region, and influence our position as a hub for creativity, ingenuity and technology. Creativity and innovation combine for an energy that is essential for our economic development, our culture and the vibrancy of our community. I look forward to doing great work with my fellow board members and our larger community this year.” 

As part of the celebration, students from Duquesne University will visit #TeamGatesman and learn about the inner workings of what it’s like to work in advertising and marketing communications. During their time at the downtown Pittsburgh office, Gatesman will host four panel discussions including a young professional track that will feature emerging talent discussing how they got to their current role. Students will also get a preview of the recently released Gen Z Reframed.

The AAF Pittsburgh AdWeek conference begins on Thursday, October 19 and runs through Friday, October 20 at Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse (located on 350 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, 15222). The two-day event will feature representatives from some of the biggest brands in the world, as well as thought leadership from Pittsburgh-based top ranking agencies, including Gatesman’s very own CEO John Gatesman, Shannon Baker, President, and SVP, Director of Strategic Communications Susan English.
