PITTSBURGH – Gatesman has been named agency-of-record (AOR) as part of a three-year contract for the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE). CORE is a nonprofit organ procurement organization dedicated to promoting donation, education and research for the purpose of saving and improving lives through organ, tissue and cornea transplantation.

“CORE is a remarkable organization with an unwavering commitment to bettering and saving lives,” said Shannon Baker, president, Gatesman. “We’re both honored and thrilled to support its mission and create marketing solutions that not only amplify the importance of this cause, but also inspire people to take action and become registered donors.”

Close to 113,000 people across the nation are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, and one donor can save the lives of as many as eight people. As CORE’s strategic marketing communications agency, Gatesman is tasked with launching a campaign that increases understanding of the donation process, evokes trust, and drives action from key target audiences to increase the number of registered organ donors in western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

“While 95 percent of people say they support organ donation, only 49 percent of people in Pennsylvania and 35 percent of people in West Virginia are actually registered as organ, tissue and cornea donors – a gap we must close to save and enhance lives,” said Susan Stuart, president and CEO, CORE. “Our partnership with the Gatesman team will help us target new audiences and uncover creative ways to increase registrations, while strengthening the overall understanding and culture of donation.”

CORE is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has an office in Charleston, West Virginia, and oversees 150 hospitals throughout western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Chemung County, New York.

“CORE’s mission is really important and powerful, and as their agency partner, it’s our job to develop a campaign that delivers that mission to the right audiences at the right time,” said Julie Allard, EVP, executive creative director, Gatesman. “We’re confident that through strategically targeted and attention-getting creative activations, we can assist CORE in spreading awareness of this cause, while also increasing education and registrations.”
