Gatesman named Bryan Vorp, associate creative director, and Alexa Ryzinski, senior copywriter as its 2019 Plus It Up and Rising Star award winners. These talented professionals were recognized at the agency’s annual meeting for their tremendous contributions as individuals to the business over the last year.

The duo also happens to be award-winning creative partners and have significantly contributed to Gatesman’s record-breaking new business year. This is the first time in Gatesman’s 13-year history that a working team has been selected as Rising Star and Plus It Up award winners.

“This dynamic duo brings a remarkable amount of talent to the table and their ability to buckle down and deliver is unparalleled,” said John Gatesman, CEO. “Bryan and Alexa are powerhouse performers who consistently go above and beyond, wow clients and encourage coworkers to think bigger and do better. We’re thrilled to recognize them for their incredible achievements this year and look forward to what’s to come.”

Vorp, a 16-year industry veteran and the most-awarded creative team member, is an ambitious leader who embodies the characteristics of each of his award recognitions. He is a visionary who creates cutting-edge designs that push creative boundaries. To date, Vorp has achieved 22 awards including three Graphic Design USA and ADDY awards and four Davey and Communicator Awards. His next-level thinking and arsenal of creative tools has led to decade-long relationships with several national clients.

Ryzinski is an award-winning, energetic writer who persists despite any roadblock she encounters. She can overcome any wordsmithing challenge and is a top performer with a spirit that guides notable success for the agency. In 2019, Ryzinski directly contributed to three new business wins, adding global accounts to Gatesman’s roster. Beyond just carving a path for her career, Ryzinski actively seeks opportunities to mentor junior staff members and other aspiring creatives. For the last two years, Ryzinski has served as a student mentor for the American Advertising Federation Pittsburgh’s “The Pitch,” a competition for college students to experience hands-on learning in a Pittsburgh advertising agency.

Together, the talent of this team has spearheaded the branding for Downtown Pittsburgh as the destination that everything points to, created the first-of-its-kind TV spots for legacy client SHOP ‘n SAVE and strategized multiple experiential activations for Chicago’s suburban bus line Pace.

“Bryan and Alexa are hustlers, constantly turning around stellar work for our clients, while also mentoring and coaching their peers along the way,” said Julie Allard, EVP, executive creative director. “Their fiery passion for creativity and success has driven them to embrace the agency’s values, shatter their personal and department goals and continually leave lasting impressions on their team and clients. The future is bright for these two.”

To achieve the Plus It Up award, an individual must have four or more years of experience at Gatesman and showcase progress and imagination as a standout leader in his or her role. This team member is a game-changer, creating breakthrough developments and improvements through client work, agency operations or new business.

The Rising Star award winner is someone with less than three years of experience at Gatesman, yet is one who stands out among peers and raises the bar of excellence as they progress in their career. This individual demonstrates ambition, talent and high-growth potential and has already made considerable contributions to the agency.
