Gatesman, one of the fastest-growing, mid-sized privately owned marketing communications agencies, has promoted Desiree Bartoe and Beth Thompson to AVP, group account directors on the public relations and social media team. The pair bring a combined twenty years of experience to some of the agency’s largest accounts and have consistently contributed to award-winning campaigns during their time at Gatesman.

“Desiree and Beth both set the bar incredibly high for everything they do, and they consistently over-deliver,” said Susan English, senior vice president, director of PR and social media. “Their expertise, mentorship, creativity and passion have been invaluable to our agency, and we are thrilled to see them take their leadership to the next level, especially as we continue to grow with our expansion into the Chicago and Springfield markets.”

Bartoe, who joined Gatesman in March 2014 as a senior account executive, has showcased her expertise and leadership on several agency accounts including Ebb Therapeutics, National Institute for Newman Studies, National Inventors Hall of Fame, SHOP ‘n SAVE, StarKist and Thorntons. In her almost three and a half years with the agency, she has quickly risen through the ranks having received promotions in 2014, once in 2016 and again in 2017 as she takes on the role of AVP, group account director, PR and social. In addition to her exemplary work on her agency accounts, she has also contributed to several new business wins over the years and serves as a mentor for junior staff members.

Thompson, who began her career at Gatesman in Sept. 2008 as an assistant account executive, has been a driving force behind the agency’s PR and social media discipline having helped grow it from a two-person shop to now, one of the region’s most celebrated and highly regarded PR and social media practices. She has contributed to the success of several of the agency’s largest accounts including Duquesne Light Company, National Inventors Hall of Fame, Northwell Health, S&T Bank and Tobii Dynavox. In her free time, Thompson enjoys giving back to her alma mater, Slippery Rock University, as she provides mentorship and advice to students.

“Desiree and Beth truly exemplify the culture of our agency in going above and beyond for our clients, and our agency by never settling for good enough.” said John Gatesman, CEO, Gatesman. “They’re always pushing their teammates, and our clients, to think a little bigger and aim a little higher. We’re fortunate to have them in our corner.”
